Your ISP, your router, and your operating system already run threat filtering. Snipe does not bolt a redundant, data-extracting "safe browsing" service on top of those layers and call it protection; blocking the trackers and malicious scripts at the source does more for your safety than reporting your browsing history to a cloud service ever did. You stay protected and private at the same time.
A cloud password vault is a single point of failure: one server breach, one phished login, one bad employee, and every credential you own is in someone else's hands at once. Snipe's password manager stores everything encrypted on your machine and nowhere else, so an attacker needs physical or remote access to your actual computer, not just a leaked database from a company you've never met. Your passwords cannot be taken from a server they were never on.
As an extension, an ad blocker survives only as long as the browser maker tolerates it; APIs get restricted, store listings get pulled, and updates quietly break filtering (Chrome's Manifest V3 gutted extension blockers in exactly this way). Snipe compiles uBlock Origin into the browser itself: it is active from the first page load, it cannot be disabled by accident or removed by a store policy, and no future update can take it away from you.
The browser industry has adopted a model of deliberate abandonment. Chrome drops Windows 7. Modern browsers drop PowerPC. The assumption underneath is that users on older hardware are an acceptable loss.
Snipe's position is that no user is an acceptable loss. Legacy support isn't what Snipe is; it's what happens when you refuse to write anyone off. We ship builds all the way back to Windows XP, and yes, even the Windows 9 beta that the rest of the industry pretended never existed.
